Billing Policy November 2025

Dear Patients,

We would like to inform you that our clinic will continue operating as a private billing practice and will not be transitioning to bulk billing, despite recent changes introduced by the Federal Government.

About the Medicare Changes:

• From 1 November 2025, the Australian Government will launch the Bulk Billing Practice Incentive Program, offering increased incentives for clinics that bulk bill eligible patients.
• In late 2023, bulk billing incentives were increased for children under 16, pensioners, and concession card holders to encourage greater access to general practice services.

Despite these initiatives, the current Medicare rebate system does not fully cover the cost of delivering high-quality and comprehensive medical care.

Why We Are Staying Private Billing:

• Sustainability and Financial Viability: Rising operational costs relating to rent, staffing, equipment and administrative requirements make it essential to charge a fee that ensures the continued availability of quality care.
• Quality of Care: Private billing allows our doctors to provide longer, more thorough consultations without the time constraints often associated with bulk billing models.

What This Means for You:

• Consultation fees will apply and Medicare rebates can still be processed on your behalf after your appointment.
• Discounted rates may be available for eligible pensioners and concession card holders — please speak to our friendly reception staff.
